Hayleigh and Baby - BIG NEWS!

BABY IS ON THE WAY!!!!!

And big sister Hayleigh is OFF the heart lung bypass machine (ECMO) and doing well!!!!

Notice the big empty space on the right side of the room where the ECMO machine used to be..

Oxygen stats are looking good and pulse in leg used for canulas looking good.

We are SUPER excited by all this.  Things happened since last night that led to all the kids being at someone else's house at the same time tonight.  I had been going down in the morning and coming back in the late afternoon but today I went down to Boston late with plans to pick the kids up after dinner.  I had the thought "I wonder if everyone is at the same house tonight because baby is coming tonight?"  And the answer to that would be "YES!"

Mid October baby in New England = this kind of view every year we celebrate this little one as well Hayleigh coming off the extraordinary life saving machine...

God is so good.  In all things Praise Him.

Please pray for

1.  Quick, safe, and healthy delivery of baby
2.  Comfort (as much as possible) and protection for Rachel
3.  Continued healing of Hayleigh

Spread the good news!  :)

God bless,
Andrew

  2. You don't know me, but I was shown your blog by a friend. I am touched by your family's compassion and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and I am deeply inspired by Hayleigh's story, spirit, and will to keep fighting. I thank God that things are looking better for Hayleigh, and that you will be blessed with a new addition soon. I pray that all goes well. God bless!

  5. Hi. We don't know one another, but I learned of your family's serious situation through a mutual friend. It really affected me to think that one family could be asked to endure so much. In fact, it just about angered me. But reading this update has renewed my faith that sometimes things just work out and we can't understand why. I read a friend's post on Facebook not long ago that basically said God does not ask more of us than we can handle. While I have never been a person to wear my religion on my sleeve, or talk very openly about my beliefs, as some people I know seem to, I do believe that there is a certain (perhaps unexplainable) balance in life that allows those burdens we bear to be offset with blessings or times of good fortune. I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and am hoping that you all come out the other end happy, healthy and stronger. Maybe this is the beginning of one of those times of good fortune. Good luck to you all!

  6. Although you don't know me, I am one of the many people with mutual friends who are praying for your daughter and your family. This past May, my not-quite-2-year-old daughter slipped out of the house and fell in our pool. I found her, unconscious and not breathing, some minutes later and resuscitated her. She spent a week in the PICU at Children's Hospital (like you, I was comforted and reassured to have Scuch be one of the first doctors we saw there). The same friends who are praying for Hayleigh now prayed for Katie then. Their prayers helped my husband and I get through a horrifying and terrifying time, and part of my prayer for you is that you and your family will feel the same sense of comfort, peace, and hope that we did. Our daughter came home with a clean bill of health, which is nothing short of a miracle, and she is now a happy, vibrant, perfectly healthy child. I pray that Hayleigh will experience the same recovery, and that you will feel some comfort and peace during this incredibly difficult time. Blessings to your family and to Hayleigh's whole medical team.

  17. I first met Hayleigh a year or so ago in Providence, RI at the HLAA Convention when I bought some of her charms. I was just showing off my bling Friday night and talking about her at the dinner prior to the HLAA Florida State Board meeting when someone else said they heard she was sick. I had to track down the news and it is nice to see she is getting better. Hug her for me too please, my prayers are with you all.
